A romance anthology compiled to raise funds to aid the New Jersey community blasted by Hurricane Sandy, this is a varying and fun set of stories set in New York. The authors proclaim WE LOVE NEW YORK.
It's hard to pick out just a couple, but Returning To My Senses by Karen Taylor tells movingly of a girl who abandons her usual pattern of dining in Manhattan after September eleventh, choosing instead to take turns with her girlfriend to pick a neighbourhood to explore, sampling Russian food, Egyptian, Indian and the many other cultures of her city.
Other tales in this book for broadminded adults include a paranormal vampire romance, a wolf shifter romance and more traditional boy-meets-girl stories. And a boy meets boy story by Adam Carpenter, In A City of Eight Million People, which brings two young people together and then separates them, reminding us of the unlikelihood of their meeting again among such a crowd.
WE LOVE NEW YORK is a short collection, edited by Trinity Blacio and Lori Perkins, and could be read by dipping into it on the subway or over lunch break, a good way to get familiar with New York and help the New Jersey shore community.
