Jill Shalvis offers reader a sweet treat with her latest book in the Lucky Harbor series! ALWAYS ON MY MIND features Leah Sullivan, a pastry chef who dropped out of school and messed up her big break on a reality cooking show. In an attempt to find some comfort, she returns to Lucky Harbor where he finds her long-time best friend, Jack Harper. Once there, she learns that Jack's mother's health has been deteriorating. As much as it pains her, Leah tells a little white lie that results in Jack's mother believing that they are involved in a relationship.
When Jack finds out about this, he is not too thrilled, but cannot deny that there is a certain amount of appeal in being Leah's fake boyfriend. As they try to convince the nosey town of Lucky Harbor that they are indeed a real couple, they soon discover things about themselves that reveal their true feelings for one another.
ALWAYS ON MY MIND is a charmingly sweet friends-to-lovers story. With the little twist, Shalvis takes a familiar and well-loved trope and makes it her own, offering that funny, quirky, hometown feel to the story. And since the hero is a firefighter, you can bet that there are some flames that not even truckloads of water can douse.
Shalvis incorporated appearances from past characters which are always a great surprise, as well as the introduction of Ben, the hero of the next book. There is ample set up for his upcoming book, so I am curious to see where Shalvis takes us next!
ALWAYS ON MY MIND is the perfect blend of sweet and sexy. Lucky Harbor is a series that delivers time and again; Shalvis always seems to get it right!
THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING
After dropping out of pastry school and messing up her big
break on a reality cooking show, Leah Sullivan needs to
accomplish something in her life. But when she returns home
to Lucky Harbor, she finds herself distracted by her best
friend, Jack Harper. In an effort to cheer up Jack's ailing
mother, Dee, Leah tells a little fib - that she and Jack are
more than just friends. Soon pretending to be hot-and-heavy
with this hunky firefighter feels too real to handle . . .
No-strings attachments suit Jack just fine - perfect for
keeping the risk of heartbreak away. But as Jack and Leah
break every one of their "just friends" rules, he longs to
turn their pretend relationship into something permanent. Do
best friends know too much about each other to risk falling
in love? Or will Jack and Leah discover something new about
each other in a little town called Lucky Harbor?
