Lark, a member of the Order of the Stake has been assigned the death of a vampire. It was nothing unusual; it was after all what Knights of the Order did. Though the Knights are all human and did not align themselves to any paranormal group they did help them with problem creatures they might have. She is about to be involved in a unexpected and BEAUTIFUL DANGER.
Domingos LaRogue is a vampire who had been a "pet" of the Levallois pack, tortured and forced to fight to the death. He was able to escape, but now in the throes of madness is seeking revenge of the very pack that made him the way he is. And no one can stop him, not even the beautiful hunter who wants to stake him.
Lark has no way of knowing that when she accepts the job for the Order it is one that will change her forever. Her husband had been a knight and she had vowed after his death to kill a vampire for every day he had been held captive. But Domingos is different. She is different with him. She understands his need for revenge, because that is what had been driving her since her husband's death. They are enemies ... could they be more.
BEAUTIFUL DANGER is a deeply compelling read. There is much more to the story and characters than what is at first seen and it makes the reader think what would they do in Lark's position. Domingos and Lark are both hurting in some of the same ways, and only together can they become what they are meant to be. This book has a lot of action, intrigue and does not answer all of the questions the reader might have, but leaves a number of hints that things might not be as they are claimed. Author Michele Hauf has a riveting way of writing that keeps the reader going to the end and leaves you wanting more of the world you had just visited. I hope there is a follow up or two for this Order because there are a number of characters I would like to see with a story of their own.
