Jessica McClain, P.I. and only female werewolf on the planet has been caught up in a maelstrom of events. Currently her primary focus is to track down and rescue her mate Roarke who has been captured by a sadistic bitch of a witch goddess. She is accompanied on her quest by a pair of vampire twins, a couple of wolves and an old enemy. By the way, she may also be the incarnation of an ancient werewolf myth whose very existence could send shock waves throughout the supernatural world.
Does this sound complicated? Well, yes, it is, but Amanda Carlson has a talent for taking all these complex threads and winding them round the strong center strand of narrative that keeps a reader turning pages.
McClain is a kick-ass heroine fumbling her way along the path of becoming a legendary figure. Her choices lead her into and through scenes that generate breath-stealing excitement, fueled by a powerful motive. HOT BLOODED is book two in the Jessica McClain series. I highly recommend reading book one, Full Blooded, first. Fair warning, each of the books ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. The main challenges are met and resolved, but after the finale, strong threads to the next book in the series lead off into the future making it difficult to wait until the next book hits the shelves. Book three, Cold Blooded is due out October 8, 2013.
