Blackmailed once more into helping Dare, the demonic head of
the Hellfire club, Cady runs into a demon with incredible
powers, vastly ramped up from the last time she met him.
Before she can discover the source of his enhanced gifts the
creep is dead. Cady is not at all eager to help Dare with
his little issue, until it becomes personal. Even more
disturbingly, whenever Kady calls on her silver moon powers
she senses the last person on any plane she would want to
meet, the embodiment of selfish evil also known as Cady's
mother.
Jenn Bennett's series has intrigued me from the first; a
woman on the run from her past, with powers not easily
quantified set in an urban fantasy milieu with very unique
aspects. This is enough to make it worth buying each book,
but what truly keeps me coming back and eager for each new
release in the series is the relationship Bennet has crafted
between Cady, Lon and Jupe. In BINDING THE SHADOWS, book
three of the Arcadia Bell series, a new complexity
within that aspect of the story is
integral to the solution of the mystery. Book four, Crossing
the Aether, is due out May 2014.
In the third book in this beloved and "riveting" (Romantic
Times) urban fantasy series, demon-friendly tiki bar owner
Arcadia Bell discovers more about her own evolving, and
possibly destructive, magical abilities when her bar is the
target of a demonic crime wave. Renegade mage and bartender
Cady Bell has had a rough year, but now the door to her
already unstable world is coming completely unhinged. When a
citywide crime wave erupts, Cady's demon-friendly tiki bar
is robbed by Earthbounds wielding surreal demonic abilities
that shouldn't exist. With the help of her devilishly
delicious boyfriend, Lon Butler, Cady sets out to find the
people who wronged her. But the criminals aren't the only
ones experiencing unnatural metamorphoses--Cady's own
Moonchild abilities are evolving beyond her control. Can
Cady track down the monsters responsible before the monster
inside destroys everything--and everyone--she loves?
