When triplets Savannah, Samantha and Sabrina Wilde were 10 years old, their perfectly happy and well-ordered world came crashing down around them. Their parents died in what was ruled as a murder/suicide and changed the lives of their daughters forever. Daniel Wilde, their grandfather, immediately stepped in to take charge of the girls in spite of his own grief.
As time went on, the girls grew up into beautiful, young women. On the night of their senior prom, they all attended with dates. Savannah became quite bored as she watched her date getting drunk across the room. Finally, he returned to their table only to try to force her to drink with him and make it clear that he expected her to "put out" for him that night. Enraged, Savannah stalked out of the prom and into the parking lot where she encountered a very dangerous situation.
Bad boy Zach Tanner happened to drive by on his way home from work when he saw a girl in imminent danger. Stopping his car, he jumped out and rescued her. Thus, began their very bittersweet love story.
Years later, Savannah is an attorney working for the District Attorney's office. Her sisters are working in Florida and Georgia. After a particularly long and intense trial, Savannah plans to take some time off and head back to her grandfather's home to put things in order. When she hits the town of Midnight, Alabama she finds that she has more to deal with than just putting her grandfather's affairs in order.
She comes face to face with Zach Tanner who is now police chief of Midnight and realizes that she never stopped loving him. Something else that starts to become clear while she's there is that her parents were actually murdered, but the responsible party isn't so keen on being discovered. Will Savannah be able to solve this without being in harm's way herself?
MIDNIGHT SECRETS is a great book to curl up with on rainy day. You'll be drawn into the small town of Midnight and become privy to the citizens there as well as their secrets. This is a story that I would love to see made into a movie. The characters of Savannah, Sabrina, and Samantha are very likeable and their relationship with each other is one filled with love and care. There wasn't the usual sniping that you find among siblings. These women genuinely care about each other and will go to any lengths to make that clear.
Zach Tanner is also a very likeable character. This is seen as the reasons for decisions he made come out in the story. I really wanted him to get back together with Savannah. Writer Ella Grace creates that feeling in her readers. I really CARED about these characters.
While there was plenty of romance in MIDNIGHT SECRETS, there was also a very creepy mystery to be solved. This was all woven together so perfectly that I found myself impatient to see how it all turned out. I suppose that's why I would describe this book as a page turner.
Even though MIDNIGHT SECRETS is primarily about Savannah, this is simply the first in a trilogy of books coming up with Sabrina and Samantha in the starring roles. I'll be at the front of the line to get them.
On a hot southern night, with a storm on the horizon, a
family is shattered. Three beautiful daughtersβSavannah,
Samantha, and Sabrina Wildeβgo on with their lives, each
significantly changed, as they bear the memory of the
murder-suicide that killed their parents. For years, they
have stayed away from Midnight, Alabama. Until Midnight
calls them home.
Savannah is the first one back, when a grueling case in
Nashville leads the young prosecutor to seek shelter in the
quiet of the once grand Wilde mansion. But when she finds
letters casting doubt on her familyβs dark, shameful past,
she realizes that peace in Midnight is a shallow façade and
sinister secrets lurk beneath the surface. Zach Tanner,
once the townβs bad boy, is now the new police chief and
still has a wild hold over her. Zach can feel it, too, but
he hurt Savannah once. As teenagers, they broke every rule
together. Now itβs his job to keep her safe, even though he
isnβt sure who her enemies areβor which ones might be his
own.
