"Even the Hobgoblin of the Fae world can find true love"

Fresh Fiction Review

The Hob

Paranormal Romance

The Fae world is split into three divisions. The Black Court ruled by Titanna, the White Court by Gloriana, and the Gray Court ruled by Oberon, who as decreed by the Gods themselves have final say when the two queens cause trouble for each other. And when there is trouble for Oberon, he sends THE HOB to sort it out. Robin Goodfellow, THE HOB, or the Hobgoblin of the Fae world is sent to Philadelphia to find and rescue the nephew of Gloriana who has been kidnapped by Titanna. His job is complicated by a new and untrained "partner" Kael and the meeting of a dark haired beauty that he has been dreaming of and a rival for that beauty. He is also in for a very interesting time because at the place of the negotiations there happens to be a fairy convention going on. Michaela Exton is a level headed pediatric oncology nurse, who just happens to have a love for Robin Goodfellow. Not that he really exists, but she has dreamed of him since she was a child and often takes exception of the portrayal of her hero in various stories and plays. When she meets up with dark haired "Ringo Midori" she thinks she found a real live Robin Goodfellow. Little does she know that it is Robin in disguise. She also meets another man that she likes an artist named Raven McSweeney, also a Fae that she doesn't realize is real. Michaela is in for a very interesting and flaming convention. THE HOB is very intriguing and at times very funny story. It's different from any other Fae or Fairy books I have read. The wording is easy to follow and the warning from the front of the book is real... it is hot! Author Dana Marie Bell can certainly hit all the notes that a woman is looking for, romance, fun, hot intimacy and scary moments. Something I don't normally like is the touch of a cliffhanger at the end, but it didn't affect Michaela or Robin's story so it was all right. I will look forward to more from this author.

SUMMARY

When the Black Queen kidnaps one of the White Queen’s nephews, Robin Goodfellow is sent to ensure that the young prince safely returns to the bosom of his family. True to his role as Oberon’s Hobgoblin, he is ready for anything… except meeting his truebond, the very delicious, very human Michaela Exton. Michaela has dreamed about a flame-haired rogue named Robin Goodfellow since she was a little girl, but everyone knows Puck doesn’t really exist. In real life, it’s a dark-eyed man named Ringo who makes her heart beat faster. She is closer to her dream man than she thinks, and nobody knows it better than Robin, who wears the guise of Ringo. But there’s competition for her love in the form of Lord Raven, who holds a secret that will rock the foundation of Robin’s world. As a Black Court delegate does the unthinkable, leaving an enraged, grief-stricken Robin hanging onto his humanity by a thread, only Michaela has the power to bring him back from the killing edge—if she survives.
