Lark Chaiken is based in New York, traveling the world to
capture the horrors of war on film. Her father has died and
she is heading to Last Chance, South Carolina to grant his
last wish. His ashes are to be scattered over the "Golfing
for God" 18th hole of the mini golf course. Lark is
determined to grant his last wish and learn his meaning of
"finding himself there" while striving to learn what really
happened in '68 when Abe spent 10 days in Last Chance.
Stonewall Rhodes identifies trouble when he first lays
eyes on Lark. A widower with two daughters, Lizzy, 15 and
Haley, 8, Stony hasn't been able to turn loose of his wife,
Sharon, to truly live again. Haley deals with an invisible
angel, minus the wings, who says her Daddy needs to make
room in his heart for love. Almost immediately Stony and
Lark form a deep friendship as Lark investigates to uncover
the mystery of the murder her father was accused of all
those years ago. With Lizzy and her friend David in
desperate danger, the Golfing for God is again the site of
tragedy. An Angel becomes more than a figment of Stony's
imagination to teach him he can love again and allow the
angel to be released to heaven.
LAST CHANCE CHRISTMAS is an emotional roller coaster
of tragic times from the past. The story is full of
nostalgia and the need to help grant a wish to a small
child. The town of Last Chance has the ability to make all
the wrongs of the past right again. There is all the
excitement and mystery any reader could want. Prepare
yourself to fall in love with the handsome but soft spoken
chief of police. LAST CHANCE CHRISTMAS is a tale of
renewal of faith and
love and I thoroughly loved it. Hope Ramsey has captured
the beauty of Christmas and faith in God.
I've been wishing for a miracle for my oldest boy,
Stone, and this Christmas my prayers might just be answered!
Her name is Lark, and she's here in Last Chance, looking
into her father's past–and stirring up a whole mess of
trouble without meaning to. As the chief of police, Stone
sure has his hands full trying to keep up with her. Ever
since his wife died, Stone's put everything into raising his
daughters and dodging the Christ Church Ladies' Auxiliary
matchmakers. And it's clear Lark has been through some
trouble and could use a place to finally call home. I only
hope Stone can let go of the past soon enough to keep her . . .
Goodness, I need to stop talking and finish up Jane's
highlights so we can make the town tree–lighting. You
come back by because the Cut 'n' Curl's got hot rollers,
free coffee, fresh–baked Christmas cookies–and
the best gossip in town.
See you real soon,

Time seemed to hang suspended for a moment as his hand
stalled in her hair, and then he pulled her gently forward.
Lark came willingly, knowing that this was what she'd wanted
since last night. This time he didn't kiss her cheek.
The kiss was softer than she expected—almost shy
and tentative, but incredibly warm and unbelievably erotic.
She had never been kissed like this before.
And in a corner of her mind she knew, without question,
that she had more experience in kissing than Stone Rhodes
did. But somehow that didn't matter. This kiss was not about
recreational sex, or passing the time, or having fun.
No, Stone Rhodes was not a guy like that. And when he
decided to kiss someone, he moved in like a marine, with
clear intent. His kiss was deliberate, as if he'd been
thinking about it for some time.
But there was nothing deliberate about the groan that
escaped him when she deepened the kiss. There was nothing
planned about the way his hand pressed the back of her head,
or the way her own palm found the side of his face and
explored the texture of his beard.
And it wasn't surprising that, by the time they managed
to pull away from each other, the inside windows of the
cruiser had gone all steamy.
They stared at each other for a moment, but neither of
them was ready to discuss what had just happened. One thing
was certain, though: If Stone Rhodes wanted to keep her
safe, even from phantoms, she was going to let him.
Hadn't she been fantasizing about a man like this since
she was seven?
