Who is the stranger in the mirror, is the question Lizette
asks herself one morning as she prepares for work. The
face she's been living with all of a sudden seems not her
own. The minute she tries to figure out why she is a
stranger to herself she begin getting ill with headaches
and nausea. Keeping her normal routine is very important
but when bullets start flying Lizette finds herself having
instincts and abilities a simple bookkeeper would know
nothing about.
Flashbacks begin to filter through her mind
and soon she finds her house and car full of listening
devices. Once bullets start flying Lizette is on the run
for her life not knowing who is friend and who is foe. The
one thing she is sure of is she has been in hibernation for
far too long and now it's time to get back to doing what
she's good at.
For years the mysterious Xavier kept a
watchful eye on Lizette, the love of his life. She was not
supposed to ever remember her prior life; now that she has
he must fight with everything he has to keep her safe.
Trained as a government assassin that should present no
problem, the issue is if she will let him close enough to
help defeat their enemies. With cold precision, Xavier
gathers all his skills to go after and destroy the enemy
that will stop at nothing to get rid of them both. I can't
tell too much more because it would ruin the surprises in
store for readers but be assured SHADOW WOMAN won't
disappoint those of us who loves a good suspense.
It is so
good to see Ms. Howard return to the type of writing her
fans love, a romantic thriller that will keep you at the
edge of your seat as the story moves forward. Nobody does
sexual tension like Howard, she takes dangerous bad boys whose
sex appeal is off the charts and makes them into the
perfect alpha hero whose main goal is to protect his one
and only love.
SHADOW WOMAN takes readers on a roller
coaster ride filled with adventure from an unusual couple
whose antics make for a thoroughly entertaining read whose
complex conspiracy will have you wondering if our
government can be trusted. Way to go Ms Howard! I love it
and can't wait for the next book from one of my favorite
authors.
SUMMARY
Lizette Henry wakes up one morning and makes a terrifying discovery: She doesn't recognize the face she sees in the mirror. She remembers what she looks like, but her reflection is someone else's. To add to the shock, two years seem to have disappeared from her life. Someone has gone to great and inexplicable lengths to keep those missing years hidden forever. But the past always finds a way to return.
Strange memories soon begin to surface and, along with them, some unusual skills and talents that Lizette hasn't a clue about acquiring. Sensing that she's being monitored, Lizette suddenly knows how to search for bugs in her house and tracking devices in her car. What's more, she can elude surveillance—like a trained agent.
Enter a mysterious and seductive stranger named Xavier, who claims he wants to help—but who triggers disturbing images of an unspeakable crime of which Lizette may or may not be the perpetrator. With memories returning, she suddenly becomes a target of anonymous assassins. On the run with nowhere to hide, Lizette has no choice but to rely on Xavier, a strong and magnetic man she doesn't trust, with a powerful attraction she cannot resist. As murky waters become clear, Lizette confronts a conspiracy that is treacherous and far–reaching and a truth that, once revealed, may silence her and Xavier once and for all.
