Jennalyn is trying to get by before her grief consumes her. Now almost a year after her sister's death and her fiance's desertion she is no closer to coming to terms with things. Sabrina before she passed away along with Ryland Davids, an administrator for Riley Hospital where Sabrina died, put together a plan to bring Jennalyn back to the living. Jennalyn would co-ordinate a Month of Miracles for kids who had been through a very bad time. Ryland would choose the recipients from all the patients. Jennalyn throws herself wholeheartedly into doing these events and Ryland is there by her side through it all. For each event Ryland gives Jennalyn a rock to add to the collection she started with Sabrina. Now that it's time for the last event Jennalyn tells her assistant that she can not attend it's too much. Ryland keeps hoping that she will show so he can give her his last and final gift.
When she is asked to do the Month of Miracles, Jennalyn wants to say no because she does not want to go into the hospital again. She fears seeing the wagon she donated in Sabrina's name, or meeting the nurses who cared for her sister. As the relationship grows between Jennalyn and Ryland, she sees a compassionate man but also a haunted man and is able to give him some help too. Ryland understands her grief having lost his daughter when she was an infant.
There are so many emotions depicted in this book, parts had me chuckling and parts brought tears to my eyes. HER MIRACLE MAN is written with a deep sensitivity to those who have suffered a loss in their lives. It is well worth the time to read this one. It's the first book I have read by Ms. Duncan and I can tell you it won't be my last. I would highly recommend HER MIRACLE MAN.
