Natalya Stravinsky is an obsessive compulsive werewolf who has a thing for Christmas decorations. She has been ostracized from her pack and is preparing for the trials to win a place back with the pack. She comes from a large Russian family and has just recently reconnected with her family, except for Auntie Yelena. Auntie Yelena thinks Nat is flawed and that she drags the family down.
Thorne Grantham is the son of the alpha of the South Toms River pack. He and Natalya have a lot of history -- they were once in love and everyone thought they would be married. Then five years ago, Thorne left town without an explanation and broke Nat's heart. Now he's back and engaged to be married to Erica.
Nat gets caught up in trying to preserve her family's honor by paying her father's moon debt to a werewolf who is connected to the Russian Mafia. In doing so, she finds herself tangled up with mermaids, muses, wizards, and fairies while she drives a big rig from Atlantic City to the Maine woods. Things do not go as planned; which is par for the course when Nat is involved; but she still manages to get her father's moon debt released and her family's honor restored. All of this and she is still training for the trials to be allowed back into the pack and contending with her feelings for Thorne.
KEPT is a fun, fast-paced paranormal romance that keeps the action coming right up until the very end. Shawntelle Madison has crafted a wonderful cast of characters with Nat, Thorne, Aggie, and the rest of the Stravinsky clan and her world building is first rate. I truly enjoyed this book.
