Anastasia Duras is on a mission for the Karpaty Council to
assassinate a new Darkling named Aubrey, the wife of Dr.
Gavin. Anastasia is a Caspathian Amazon, a warrior trained
to hunt and kill rogue Darklings. Aubrey fits this bill and
it's Anastasia's job to take her out. Unfortunately when
she arrives at the magic shop that Aubrey works at, her
cover is blown by a Darkling named Jasper.
Jasper Nagorsky is a Darkling vampire working for the
Karpaty Coucil as well. His job is to find out whatever he
can about Dr. Gavin, a newly turned Witchling and report
back to the council with his findings. When he gets caught
in the middle of Anastasia's attempt to kill Dr. Gavin's
wife, sparks fly.
Romance between Darklings and humans is strictly forbidden
but the minute Anastasia lays her eyes on Jasper, the sexual
chemistry between the two of them is undeniable. Will
Anastasia and Jasper give in to the temptation of lust and
complete their missions without a problem? How will
Anastasia react when she learns the truth about her past?
THE DARKLING'S DESIRE is a Nocturne Cravings short story
available in e-book format. I never read a book by Lauren
Hawkeye prior to this one but I am glad to have discovered
her writing now! At only 43 pages long, the author managed
to tell a story that was fantastic and could without a doubt
be a great full length novel in a series.
The romance between Anastasia and Jasper sizzled, the
romance scenes were steamy, and the paranormal elements made
THE DARKLING'S DESIRE an exciting and fun story! Overall, if
you are looking for a short story to read that is really
great, look no further than THE DARKLING'S DESIRE. I will
definitely be checking out Hawkeye's backlist of books.
Amazon warrior Anastasia Duras has spent her entire life training for one thing: to hunt and kill blood-drinking Darklings who refuse to follow the Karpaty Council's rule. Her first mission sends her after a newly turned vampire gone rogue—and into the path of sexy Darkling Jasper Nagorsky. Jasper is on a mission of his own, one that clashes with Anastasia's—but their passionate confrontations arouse a hunger in him that has nothing to do with the bloodlust. Yet dalliances between Darklings and humans are forbidden by the Council. Jasper broke this rule once before and was barely allowed to live. Is their passion worth risking death a second time?
