Kristi Callahan is a single mom raising a teenage daughter.
She's an interior designer and owns a home staging company,
Ready Set Sold, along with her two best friends. Kristi was
raised by a young single mom and she repeated the pattern by
becoming a teenage mother herself. Her daughter Jenna's dad
didn't stick around after Kristi became pregnant, and Kristi
made the decision to stay single until Jenna graduates high
school rather than expose her daughter to any more dead-beat
men.
Nate McTavish is a single dad raising twin 4 year old
daughters. Nate is a botany professor and has been raising
his daughters since his wife died two years ago. In an
attempt to escape from meddling in-laws and try to get a
fresh start, Nate has decided to put his house on the market
and look for something smaller and closer to the university
where he teaches. Nate's entire life is consumed by raising
his daughters and teaching, he doesn't have time to even
think about dating, let alone starting a relationship.
Kristi and Nate feel an instant attraction for each other
and sparks fly while she works at staging his home for sale.
They end up going on a couple of "fake" dates in an attempt
to thwart match-making attempts by both of their families,
but those fake dates lead to some very real kisses. After
one night of passion, Kristi runs away; but Nate is not
ready to give up on the magic they've found.
THE DADDY PROJECT is a sweet romance with a great family
dynamic and steamy, erotic tension. Lee McKenzie had me
laughing out loud while reading this book with her
descriptions of the twins and Jenna. Ms. McKenzie has a
knack for writing about family dynamics and it made this a
very enjoyable read.
Her Problem
As a busy single mom to her teenage daughter, Kristi
Callahan doesn't have time for a man. But it sure would be
nice if her mother believed that, too. She keeps setting
Kristi up on disastrous blind dates, determined to find her
"the one."
His Problem
After Nate McTavish's wife died, he was faced with raising
his twin little girls alone. Making it up as he goes along
and sometimes questioning his daddy skills, he also has to
fend off women his well-meaning family keep throwing at him.
Their Solution
When Nate hires Kristi to stage his house before selling it,
they instantly realize they've found the perfect answer to
their problem: be fake dates for each other! It's a great
plan—until they start to wonder if the real thing might not
be even better .
