Every reader has that one book that spoke to them when they were younger. That one author that opened your mind to the world of romance and showed you that happily ever after might be true. Johanna Lindsey was that author for me. From the first book I read at age seventeen I have collected them all over the years. I am very glad that my collection continues to grow. LET LOVE FIND YOU is a wonderful addition and featured a character whose story I have been hoping for. I have loved Amanda Locke's character in past books, Rogue of My Own & Devil Who Tamed Her, and was really hoping that Ms. Lindsey would give Amanda her own story. LET LOVE FIND YOU gave me the same Amanda that I have come to know and brought me even closer to her.
Another thing I loved about LET LOVE FIND YOU was the fact that Lindsey includes past characters. I love the little updates we get on them and the glimpse into what their lives are like now. The connections between characters from one book to another is just another little added bonus that I have come to expect from Lindsey. She has created stories within stories within stories and I am a big fan!
Amanda Locke has not found a husband and not for lack of trying. She has tried for several seasons, but no one has given her that spark. That feeling when you just know that this is the one that you cannot live without. Amanda has watched virtually all of her friends find husbands, get married, and begin families of their own. Yet here she sits -- unmarried and almost to the point of being on the shelf!
Devin Baldwin is making his own way in the world. On one side he has become known as being a sort of matchmaker. People have taken to calling him "Cupid" when that is not what he is at all. Matchmaking should be looked at the same way as breeding. It is the animal attraction that will make the difference, not the family backgrounds, not the connections, and not the money the couple has. Devin is used to breeding horses, and he is good at it too! Well he was until strange things began to happen, like a fire in one of the barns. It seems that someone is out to make him fail, but Devin has other plans. Those plans do not include giving riding lessons to a spoiled girl who is afraid of horses. Those plans do not include giving her lessons on love or instructing her where she is going wrong with her suitors. Lastly those lessons most certainly do not include the fact that Amanda Locke is taking up entirely too many of his thoughts even when she isn't around.
I know that many readers will say that this story was familiar -- horse breeder and the girl almost on the shelf. However, the story is not so much about the horse breeder as it is about the hero playing cupid for the heroine. I found this aspect of the story original and very very funny! Men are generally not seen as matchmakers and a man using his horse breeding skills to find matches for people is a really funny and yet somewhat true concept. I for one have never been disappointed by Ms. Lindsey and do not expect to ever be. Thank you for Amanda's story I look forward to many many more!
