Finley Anderson Tanner, fashionista/paralegal
extraordinaire, is torn between the two gorgeous men in her
life -- her boss, lawyer Tony Caprelli, and the law firms'
private investigator, Liam McGarrity. But Liam is the hunk
who really makes her tingle in all the right places. In the
past, they've come close to consummating their relationship
several times, but something always happens to hinder the
final act. Just how much sexual teasing is a hot-blooded
woman expected to take?
Then Liam shows up at Finley's house late one night with a
gunshot wound needing a place to hide and get patched up,
and she knows she'll do whatever it takes to protect him.
With much probing and prodding, Finley finally gets Liam to
confess that five years ago he left the police force after
he was falsely accused of shooting a teen during a drug
bust. Even though he was never found guilty, he was forced
to resign. Now, Liam's gun from five years ago has been
used to kill his ex-partner -- and he's again a murder
suspect.
It doesn't take long for death threats against Finley to
start and with an excess of possible suspects, Liam, Finley
and Tony are kept busy sorting out details and following
leads. But will they live long enough to bring the bad guys
to justice?
The really good thing about this fifth outing for Finley is
the progression of her relationship with Liam, and we
finally learn more about his background. It adds a special
dimension to the sleuthing and the final outcome of the
mystery plot. Don't miss BARGAIN HUNTING, a fantastic entry
in this exceedingly enjoyable mystery series.
Finley's finally working on criminal cases at her law
firm, but she's still no closer to solving the dilemma of
her love life. On the one hand is Tony, successful partner
in the firm - but also her boss. On the other, bad-boy
investigator Liam, who won't commit but won't stay away,
either. Into the mix add Tony's adoring 13-year-old
daughter, who's got a serious case of hero-worship for
Finley and her bargain-hunting ways, and Liam's too-
perfect ex-wife, and Finley's hope of romance seems to be
fading fast. (Meanwhile, Finley's mother is setting her up
on blind dates with every rich, boring jerk in Florida.)
When Liam appears on her doorstep one night with a bullet
wound, he's forced to tell Finley something he's
never shared before - the reason he's no longer a detective
on the force.
Turns out he was framed for the shooting of a 14-year-old
kid in a drug bust...although he was never charged, his
suspected involvement was too hot for the police, who
asked him to resign. Now the same gun that supposedly
killed the kid has turned up as the weapon that murdered
Liam's ex-partner, and he's determined to clear his name
once and for all.
Finley and her friends are on the case, but before she
knows it, she's getting anonymous threats and has to go
underground herself. Thank god she's still got Internet
access!! Not only can she keep up with her beloved eBay
auctions, but her keen fashionista eyes can see that some
figures close to the case are living a little too well for
their pay grades. Can she save herself, clear Liam, and
find true love? If anyone can, it's Finley...
