BIG SHOT Durk Lambert is at the hospital to visit his aunt
who has been rushed there with chest pains when he hears a
voice from the past very much in pain. It's his former
lover Meghan Sinclair who has been attacked in her own
condo. Meghan, a private investigator, takes cases that the
police seemed to be unable to solve and it's possible that
this time the killer got to her first. If only she could
remember anything, even her name maybe she could figure out
what
happened to her and why her associate was killed.
Durk is a cowboy and CEO of Lambert Inc. He's good looking,
rich and knows how to get answers, but his only plan is to
help the woman he still wants, get her memory back before
her attacker finds her again. He doesn't want to get
involved again, it was too hard the first time around. He
can only hope that once she is back to normal his heart
will survive when she walks away ... again. Though the longer
he is with her he's sure it won't survive this time.
I loved BIG SHOT and despite the danger lurking and heart
clutching ending, it is a heartwarming story. Both Durk and
Meghan, even though she can't really remember who she
is through most of the book, are strong, determined
people. She believes in what she does for a living and he,
though he lost her once to that job, knows he has to protect
her until she can protect herself. All of the background
characters including the nurses who are falling all over
themselves to help him at the hospital and the cop,
Detective Sam Smart, investigating the attack on Meghan,
and all the family members are very realistic and had
their places in the storyline. I enjoyed the family dynamic
and the way everyone is ready to jump in and help as
needed but did not try to take over. Whether you've read
any of the other books in the "Big "D" Dads" series by
Joanna Wayne this book stands alone perfectly, and once you
have finished it, you will want to get your hands on the
other Lambert stories too.
Fate brought Texas rancher Durk Lambert face-to-face with
his ex-lover, Meghan Sinclair. The reckless but gorgeous
P.I. had been beaten and left for dead, with no memory of
her attacker, of Durk or herself. Years ago she'd broken his
heart, but no cowboy walked away from a woman in need.
While Durk kept her safe on his Bent Pine Ranch, his own
memories threatened him—laughing with Meghan, making love.
He still wanted her, but he feared Meghan was the one woman
he could never have—and the one he'd lay down his life to
protect. Because while Durk wanted her to remember, a killer
needed her to forget.
