Amy Sorentino has come home to New Mexico to help her two sisters try to save the family ranch. After their father's death, their mother suffers a mental breakdown and is no longer able to take care of the property. Amy's older sister has been trying to run the ranch on her own, but mounting debt has left the ranch on the verge of bankruptcy.
The family has decided to pool Amy's culinary skills, Rachel's knowledge of the ranch, and Jenna's business skills to open a bed & breakfast at the ranch. Amy's only problem with coming back to New Mexico is her addiction to cowboys. She's not sure she'll be able to live in such close proximity to so many cowboys and still maintain her dignity.
Kellan Reed is a cowboy through and through. He owns the cattle ranch next to the Sorentino's and raises the best beef in the southwest. He runs into Amy her first day back in town and is instantly attracted to her. Kellan isn't looking for a long term commitment, so he sets about convincing Amy to have a no strings attached fling with him.
The sex between Kellan and Amy is amazing, but Amy keeps trying to put a stop to things as she realizes her cowboy addiction is quickly causing her to develop feelings for Kellan that she didn't plan on. Kellan also is developing feelings he didn't bargain for. Kellan quickly proves he is more than just cowboy eye-candy as he jumps in to help during a family crisis and takes steps to help save the Sorentino family ranch.
THE TROUBLE WITH COWOBOYS is a cute romantic romp. I really enjoyed the character development and Melissa Cutler did a fantastic job with her descriptions of the New Mexico landscape. I felt like I had been transported to New Mexico during the winter and could almost feel the wind and cold. Kellan Reed is an absolute heart-breaking cowboy hero that every woman is going to fall in love with and Amy Sorentino is such a likeable character. She has sacrificed so much for her family and I was just waiting for her to find her happiness. THE TROUBLE WITH COWBOYS is a very quick read, but very good and satisfying!
It was their parents' ranch, through the good days and the
bad. But if they want to hang on to their land, their pride,
and their family, the three Sorentino sisters will have to
reinvent it from the ground up-and one of them just may
reinvent herself in the process...
Cowboys have never been good for Amy Sorentino. First her
hard-riding father bankrupted the family farm. Then her
all-hat-no-cowboy boyfriend sold her out on national
television, ending her promising career as a chef. Now she
and her squabbling sisters have partnered up in a final
attempt to save their land by starting an inn and local
restaurant. So it figures that with everything on the line,
Amy's key supplier is just the kind of Stetson-tipping
heartbreaking bad boy she's sworn to avoid. But Kellan Reed
has a few secrets of his own-and cowboy or not, Amy can't
resist this kind of wild ride...
