Heather Wells returns to the page in SIZE 12 AND READY TO
ROCK. Heather has adjusted fairly well from being a pop
star to losing her career, boyfriend and tiny figure.
Heather is now unofficially engaged to private
investigator Cooper Cartwright, is the assistant director
for a dorm at New York College, a size 12, and quite happy.
That is until she is called into the dorm one summer night
by security reporting there was a 911 call that there is
someone unconscious and in need of help. While
investigating Heather and Cooper find his brother Jordan
and new wife Talia at the heart of the trouble.
Heather and Cooper find Jordan and Talia filming for their
reality show and Talia is covered in blood. It seems
earlier that night someone shot Talia's bodyguard and the
young pregnant newlywed pop star appears to be in shock.
Heather may not love Jordan anymore and may not be friends
with Talia anymore since she found her cheating with
Heather's ex, Jordan but she wants to help. Funny enough
Talia is comforted by Heather alone and when she needs a
safe place to have her teenage rock camp she begs Heather
to allow them to move it to Heather's dorm.
Cooper has been estranged from his father since he refused
to join their entertainment company but Cooper can't turn
down his request to become Talia's bodyguard. While Heather
is making sure everything for the teen rock camp goes off
without a hitch more attempts are made on Talia's life.
Heather and Cooper investigate what's going on and are
determined to find out who would want to hurt the nation's
sweetheart.
Meg Cabot's SIZE 12 AND READY TO ROCK is an amusing
romantic mystery. Cabot known for her Princess Diary series
is an award winning author and has another winner with her
fourth novel in her Heather Wells Mystery series,
SIZE 12
AND READY TO ROCK. I found the story fun and lighthearted
and enjoyed the whodunit plot. My only concern was that
this book is advertised as an adult novel while I felt it
was more geared towards Young Adult. I would recommend
this book to those who enjoy YA and encourage the readers
to also read books 1-3 in this charming series.
Just because the students at New York College have gone
home for the summer doesn’t mean assistant residence hall
director Heather Wells gets to relax. Fischer Hall is
busier than ever, filled with squealing thirteen- and
fourteen-year-old girls attending the first ever “Tania
Trace Teen Rock Camp,” hosted by pop sensation Tania Trace
herself-who just happens to be newly married to Heather’s
ex, heartthrob Jordan Cartwright. But the real headache
begins when the producer of a reality TV show starring
Tania winds up dead… and it’s clear that the star was the
intended victim.
Grant Cartwright, head of Cartwright Records, wants to keep
his daughter-in-law (and highest earning performer) alive.
So he hires his black sheep other son, private investigator
Cooper Cartwright-who just happens to be Heather’s new
fiancé. Heather should leave the detecting to Cooper. But
with a dorm-full of hysterical mini-divas-in-training, she
can’t help but get involved, especially after Tania lets
slip her shocking secret, and Heather realizes her reality
is far more dangerously real than anyone ever anticipated.
