Sarah Dearly has had a rough time of it these last several months. It started off with a blind date going from bad to worse when he bit her and abandoned her as a vampire. Since then Sarah has escaped death more times than she can count now, one by one her friends and family have moved away. All she has left is her fiancé Thierry, a master vampire who just got a job working for the Ring. Thierry informs her that the Ring is the governing board for vampires and he has to work for them for the next fifty years traveling all over the world.

Thierry de Bennicoeur has been a vampire for over six centuries. Seven months ago he was standing on a bridge about to stake himself. Just when he was at his lowest point and was about to end it all, a petite fledgling vampire walked into his life and things have never been the same. Sarah has been the light of his life. Sarah recently moved in and things were going well until now that he got a call and he is being forced to take the job with the Ring. Thierry fears for Sarah's safety and for her sake he suggests she stay home while he travels; but in true Sarah fashion she informs him she would give up everything to be with him.

Thierry and Sarah head to Las Vegas for his first mission with the Ring. Upon his arrival Thierry is met by an old friend but their reunion quickly erupts into a confrontation where Thierry threatens to kill his friend. Sarah encourages him to put it aside and they begin to focus on the Thierry's first assignment. They work well as a team and have wrapped up the case when Thierry's friend is killed by a vampire hunter that announces Thierry sent him just as he drove the stake in. Thierry is taken prisoner by the Ring and will be punished for hiring the murder. Thierry's only thought is for Sarah so he sends her back home. Does he really think Sarah will leave him to be punished for something he didn't do?

BLOOD BATH AND BEYOND is a funny mystery come to page. Sarah has the biggest heart which helps land her into trouble but in every situation she keeps her head and focus and comes out on top. The relationship with Thierry is complicated and they have a lot in their way. But she gets him like no other and she loves him despite it all. Thierry looks past Sarah's fragile exterior and sees her heart and soul. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I had a constant smile on my face and warm heart from the deep love they share. BLOOD BATH AND BEYOND is book one in author Michelle Rowen's Immortality Bites Mystery Series but I have just discovered that Rowen has an Immortality Bites series of five books with Sarah and Thierry that I MUST read. Hopefully that will help keep my satisfied until next June when Book 2 Bled and Breakfast comes out.
