Romance Contemporary

During his daily labor of building a wilderness trail for Nova Mare Resort in Spellbound Falls, Maine, Alec MacKeage doesn't bargain for finding and rescuing a beautiful woman being attacked by kidnappers. Alec agrees to protect Jane Smith for a week against her kidnappers. It's soon apparent to Alec that she is no ordinary woman as he struggles to keep his distance from the enchanting woman also being protected by her wolf, Kitty.

As the mystery unwinds it is soon revealed to Alec that he is hiding out with Carolina Oceanus whose father is a 12th century highland warrior and King of Druids. The sassy "Jane" is hiding as she has no intent to choose a husband from the six ancient men her father has brought to this century. Competition between the men begins to work on Alec's staunch idea of staying single when his jealousy supersedes all else. Where the "Princess" is concerned, Alec desperately desires her and refuses for anyone else to have Jane even though marriage and commitment is out of the question for him. Jane sees only her brave captor and refuses to bend to her father's wishes. A showdown during the opening celebration at the resort pits Alec against the ancients and all the magic as he eliminates the opposition one by one. Alec, known as "the Celt", has a background not unlike James Bond. Perhaps he is the only one the King trusts with his beloved daughter's life. Now only to convince the hard headed Celt.

Courting Carolina is full of excitement and suspense throughout the story, as well as a feeling of tenderness complete with tons of amusement from the sassy and quirky little princess. Not knowing that the one she pursues is not she thinks he is. I was completely captivated by this tale. COURTING CAROLINA has surprising curves when you least expect them. This is a definite read for anyone enjoying a little enchantment. Janet Chapman is an expert when it comes to weaving an exciting and colorful tale combining the mythological past with the present.

On the run from her own life, Jane is really Carolina Oceanus—and she’ll do anything to avoid the six ancient- minded men her father has brought to Maine to vie for her hand in marriage.
