Glenna Pierce is a beautiful young woman with ivory skin, sparkling green eyes, and flowing red hair. She has been sheltered and pampered since the day she was born, never wanting for anything but protected from the harsh realities of life. Her parents have groomed her for the legacy she is to inherit on her 18th birthday for as long as Glenna can remember, the details of this legacy have always been very vague -- just that it is a very special day and she will come into her powers and be taught how to use them.
Nicholas Stormbringer is a strong, honorable man. He is the king of Aropoli on the fifth plane (our world is on the twelfth plane). Nicholas has waited for Glenna's 18th birthday since he was ten years old -- the day she was promised to him as a baby.
Nicholas' kingdom is at risk and Glenna must decide if she will marry Nicholas within 24 hours of their meeting. During those 24 hours, Glenna is kidnapped, Nicholas rescues her, they share their first kiss, she learns the truth about her heritage, and what is truly at stake with her decision. And that's just the first half of the book.....once Glenna has decided Nicholas is the man for her, his old rival steps forward and tries to claim her for his own bride; leading to an explosive climatic showdown.
BORN TO BE HIS is a lovely paranormal romance with plenty of suspense and action. Wendy Stone did a good job with character development; however I did have a hard time with the plot concept of Glenna being expected to just accept all the changes that had occurred in such a short time frame and readily jump right into marriage; especially since she was so young and sheltered. But once I got past that small sticking point, I really enjoyed the story. I liked the fifth plane and all the fairy tale characters that inhabited it -- Ms. Stone made them completely life-like -- just as I had imagined them when I was a child.
