Anyone who has read Stephanie Laurens has fallen in love
with the Cynsters. I have been following these books from
the beginning and have never been let down. Each character,
each branch of the family, each separate story has found its
way into my heart. The Cynster Sister Trilogy has been a
delight from beginning to end. I simply adore how each book,
while written to be its own story, still gives me back my past
heroes and heroines and provides me with that connection to
them all over again. THE CAPTURE OF THE EARL OF GLENCRAE did
that and more!
Out of the three sisters I must admit that Angelica has
proven to be my favorite. Maybe it is her outspoken ways,
maybe it is her independence and ability to lead without
leading, maybe it is her talent for charming those around
her. Whatever it is her personality simply shines throughout
the entirety of this book.
I can imagine myself in her shoes
glaring at brothers who do not know how to get out of the
way, all the while being grateful that they were there
anyways. Angelica simply has a spark for life that I, like
all the others in the book, could not resist shaking my head
and smiling about. As the youngest of Martin Cynster's
daughters Angelica has finally taken possession of the
pendent. A pendant said to help Cynster women find their
hero. One glance and Angelica knew that her hero had been
found; now she simply had to convince him of it.
I loved all
the little ways Angelica managed to weasel and get what she
wanted. A woman after my own heart, Angelica Cynster is
portrayed exactly as she should have been.
And of course we cannot forget her hero, the elusive Laird
who was first seen in Viscount Breckenridge to the Rescue. I
have been wondering about this Highland Laird and my
curiosity kept growing with each appearance. At first, the
wannabe kidnapper appears as the perfect bad guy. However, I
quickly figured out that he was actually not so much the
villain that he was made out to be. His appearances have
caused reckless dangers for each sister, but have always led
to much happier things. Dominic was everything that I could
have asked for in a Highland Laird posing as English. The
only thing I thought was missing was the Scottish brogue
that I thought would have come out once we reach his home.
That said, as all Scottish Laird's Dominic's character held
to his honor when things were at their most dire, he found
himself changing and challenging his beliefs on a daily
basis and still maintained his composure. Dominic grew as
the story grew and I loved watching him come to terms with
the fact that his life was forever altered by the kidnapping
of one girl. At first, Dominic is not so certain that he
hasn't captured more than he can handle in Angelica. But in
the end he was able to recognize Angelica as a strength, an
asset, a lifelong partner, and he was able to treasure what
he had.
I simply cannot rave enough about this series, and most
especially about this book. If you have never read a Cynster
novel find one so that their stories can light up even your
darkest night. I couldn't have asked for a better ending
than THE CAPTURE OF THE EARL OF GLENCRAE for the Cynster
Sister Trilogy!
