Thirty-one year old Kate Fitzgerald is guardian and protector of her 18 year old half-sister Tenley Miles. Kate's mother and fiancé, both famous singers, died in a bus accident when Tenley was only 6. The darling of country western and a singing idol, Tenley travels the country performing. Kate is also her publicist who has arranged a performance in Afghanistan with the USO following a melt- down by Tenley voicing negative comments about the military, and to also remove her from the soldier she has fallen in love with. Hopefully this will help make amends with her audience in showing her support of the military and regret at her previous behavior.

Arriving in Afghanistan 3 days prior to Tenley to insure her comfort, she is met by Major Chase Rawlins who is not happy at a stand down order from his commander and reassignment to the celebrity for her safety. One look at Kate as she disembarks from the plane and Chase knows he is in trouble. Kate's heart races and her knees wobble at the sight of her military escort. Spending the next couple of days traveling to view the venues, all caution is thrown to the wind and both libidos are out of control. It is soon evident to both that hot sensual sex is not going to be enough. Dealing with Tenley's problems consumes Kate and, pushing harder than warranted, precipitates Tenley to take control of her own life and fire Kate. Devastated, Kate returns to the states to resume her web design business with promises that she and Chase will keep in contact until he finishes his stent in Afghanistan in 6 months. Once in the states, Chase is terrified that Kate has changed her mind.

The tale of a devoted sister dropping her entire life and dreams to care for her sister wrenches the heart. Unable to turn loose and let Tenley live her own life in making her own decisions is breaking Kate's heart. Karen Foley has created an emotional and nostalgic tale of the love and devotion between two sisters. I completely enjoyed NO GOING BACK and will search out other stories by Karen Foley. She has a definite flair of keeping the interest and moving the story along. I completely enjoyed the extra insight of the military serving our country overseas. NO GOING BACK is a great quick read.
