I have been a Janet Chapman fan since the Highlanders, I
have followed every series and I continue to be amazed by
how flawlessly she correlates characters, how delicately
each series is woven together, and by how wonderful the
romance is.
SPELLBOUND FALLS was no exception to the rule;
Chapman continues to captivate my attention as her
characters continue to invade my heart!
Maximilian Oceanus is just like any other single
father....trying to connect with his son, trying to be a good
father, and trying to pick his own path in life. Only Mac is
not like any other father because he is the son of one of
the most powerful beings on the planet. Mac has been given
one year to get it together, get a home, get a wife; or
else. Taking the advice of his friends, Mac finds himself at
a summer camp for families who are trying to reconnect. The
camp is fortunately located hundreds of miles from the
ocean, miles from anyone who knows him, and in the middle of
Spellbound Falls.
Olivia has run the camp for families since her husband died
in service four years ago. Raising her daughter by herself
has not been easy and when you live and work for your
in-laws things are even more touch and go. Throughout her
life Olivia has learned how to fade into the background.
Life has taught her that the only things that matter are
hiding and taking care of her daughter. Nothing has ever
been worth the trouble to argue over or fight for. Until
now. Olivia is desperate to make her way out of her shell
and begin life with a new zest! Making changes to the camp
is only the first step and for Olivia, life is about to get
a whole lot easier. Especially when she finds that her new
campers have suddenly become her new hired help.
Mac Oceanus
is everything a woman could ask for, if only Olivia can find
the courage to ask. Mac is not all that he seems to be and
when weird and unexplainable things begin happening Olivia
wonders if she got more than she bargained for.
These two characters were a true delight! I have been
waiting for Mac's story since he first appeared in the
Midnight Bay Series. I really loved how Mac's personality
did not change, but went even deeper from when we first met
him. I loved the fact that he was not the typical type A hot
guy. He was thin, but he was strong. He had major issues to
work out, made many mistakes along the way, and made the
story all the funnier for it.
Between Mac and Olivia there
were some very big personal problems to work through and a
whole lot of growing to do. Watching these two characters
come into their own and fall in love was everything a
Chapman fan could ask for.
New York Times bestselling author Janet Chapman takes us to charming Spellbound Falls, where strange things have started happening ever since Maximilian Oceanus came to town… Maximilian Oceanus arrives in Spellbound Falls just in time to save Olivia Baldwin from an overly aggressive suitor, only to find himself attracted to the beautiful, if rather aloof, widow. And although Mac has come to Inglenook to get a handle on fatherhood, his newly discovered six-year-old son has set his sights on finding his father a wife. Olivia, however, is busy getting Inglenook ready for its new season, so she doesn’t have time to deal with her growing attraction to the dangerously seductive Mac. Besides, weird stuff seems to happen all around him. Take the fact that her seatbelt keeps getting stuck in his presence, or locks magically open for him without keys, and that he seems to have a talent for sensing things. Never mind the three lost albatrosses walking down the road in the middle of the night. Since when are there albatrosses in Maine? But despite Olivia’s resistance to falling under the sexy man’s spell, Olivia is having trouble fighting her longing. Because she knows Mac is just the man to unlock the powerful passion deep within her…
