Should Gods interfere in the lives of humans? This last book in the trilogy will leave the reader satisfied. There is plenty of action, intrigue, and mystery to go around. There is an undercurrent of tension, perhaps caused by the purported change that will sweep through Anavatan, City of the Gods. Hisar has come into his power and ready to take his place in the pantheon of Anavatan. With his ascendance comes a wave of change, change that may be good or bad. Spar and Graize still do not get along, even though it is such an important time for Hisar. Brax faces tough decisions and not enough time to make them in.
The characters have become memorable to readers and will be hard to say good-bye to upon setting the book down.
Fiona Patton handles the plot very well. Readers will not have a hard time becoming engrossed as the plot is fast-paced for the most part. There is enough action to keep you satisfied and the complicated relationships between the characters will keep readers on their toes. Some readers, (especially those who have read the entire The Warriors of Estavia series may be expecting the ending, but to those like me who have not read all the book in the series the ending may come as a surprise.
THE SHINING CITY is a very satisfying read.
The lines have been drawn for battle as the new God Hisar
struggles for survival and to unify his two seer-priests,
who have been sworn enemies since childhood. At the same
time invasion forces have set sail, intent on conquering
Anavatan, the Shining City, home of the Gods.
