Who is ready for the second book in the Half-Light City Series?

BLOOD KIN still includes Simon and Lily (who we met in the first book, Shadow Kin) to some extent, but readers will be introduced to Guy and Holly. Holly is a thief who does her best to stay alive while Guy is Simon's brother and a Templar Knight.

Holly's father isn't very nice to her to say the least, he is a Fae Lord and isn't fond of his half-breed daughter. Holly has to do certain things for him, but what he requires leads her into grave danger. Luckily for Holly, she meets Guy...a Templar Knight willing to help her. The closer the two get, the more their romance and friendship develops, but until then readers are in for a slightly humorous story.

Holly is a strong female character, but she hides a bleeding heart. Her father's cruelty to her mother will be something that Holly will never forget. As a half-breed, she is wary of both "breeds" and doesn't trust easily. She is intelligent and self-sufficient, but is grateful (for the most part) for Guy.

Guy is actually the easier character to like right off the bat. He does seem to have a strict set of values and employs them regularly. His compassion and caring stance towards Holly are to be admired. Their budding romance will probably not come as a surprise to readers, but other events in BLOOD KIN will.

BLOOD KIN does answer a few of the questions that Shadow Kin may have given rise to, but it also leaves you with a few questions too.

Pick up BLOOD KIN, the latest book in theHalf-Light Cityseries for more of M.J. Scott's phenomenal plot lines.

SUMMARY

Imagine a city divided. A city where human and Fae magic rests uneasily next to the vampire Blood and the shapeshifting Beasts. A city where a fragile peace is brokered by a treaty that set the laws for all four races…a treaty that is faltering day by day.

I didn’t plan on becoming a thief and a spy. But options are limited for the half-breed daughter of a Fae lord. My father abandoned me but at least I inherited some of his magic, and my skills with charms and glamours mean that few are as good at uncovering secrets others wish to hide. Right now the city has many secrets. And those who seek them pay so well…

I never expected to stumble across a Templar Knight in my part of the city. Guy DuCaine is sworn to duty and honor and loyalty—all the things I’m not. I may have aroused more than his suspicion but he belongs to the Order and the human world. So when treachery and violence spill threaten both our worlds, learning to trust each other might be the only thing that saves us.

But even if a spy and a holy knight can work together, finding the key to peace is never going to be easy…
