Angela Loukas, owner of the bakery A Taste for All Pleasures, has big dreams. She wants her bakery to be about more than cupcakes and cookies; she wants to be known for decadent and unusual French pastries. She also wants to finally get over her cheating ex-husband. When Daniel Flynn enters her shop to order six vanilla cupcakes, the instant attraction that sparks between them suggests she is more than ready to move on.
Daniel is in the shop to buy the cupcakes in honor of his deceased fiancรฉe, he's more of a chocolate guy. At her death bed, he promised no dating until after the date of their planned wedding has passed. For 18 months he has honored his promise. However, Angela might just be too much temptation. Are they both ready to move on and take another chance on love?
JUST ONE KISS is the start of a new series featuring a group of friends who own shops in the same center, each dedicated to one of the senses (touch, taste, sound, sight, and smell). We get to meet all the of the friends which definitely peaked my interests in the rest of the series. Since I am intrigued by the premise of the series, I hate to admit I did not enjoy the basis of this particularly story. The idea of Daniel breaking, or being tempted to break, the promise he made to his dying fiancรฉe made it a little hard to root for Angela and Daniel. Yes, asking someone to wait 2 years is selfish but he did make the promise and had tried conscientiously to honor it. Maybe if there had been more emotional turmoil in giving up that promise I would have been satisfied. That said, I liked Angela and Daniel. The chemistry between them is strong. I enjoyed their interactions with each other, as well as those with their friends. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Sharpe does with the remaining books in the series.
