Jessica and Pietr are not the perfect couple, but how can
they be when Pietr has to deal with being "furry" some days?
I enjoyed their clear love for each other and determination
to do just about anything to stay together. Shannon Delaney
seems to be the master of Twists and she does it again in
DESTINY AND DECEPTION. I was surprised and kept on my toes
through the entire the novel.
The plot has changed slightly. There are a couple new
characters who I enjoyed getting to know since Delaney
writes in multi-characters point of view. The new characters
are part of Pietr's pack and cannot understand why he would
want to hang around humans or change who he is. The tension
slowly builds until a breaking point is reached towards the
end of the novel. I have to admit that I was rooting for
Jessica to prevail over Marlaena, the new girl on the scene.
Since DESTINY AND DECEPTION is told from several view
points, it is easier to get to know all of the characters
and to understand their thought processes and reasoning over
some of the novel's events. I found myself worrying with
Jessica over her relationship with Pietr and trying to
understand why Pietr feels he cannot be himself if he loses
his wolf. All in all, I was dying to read the next book in
this series immediately after finishing DESTINY AND
DECEPTION!
The sensational fourth novel in the 13 to Life series sees Jessica and the Rusakuvas fighting to overcome one of their biggest challenges yet--the possibility of a cure for lycanthropy. With the threat of the mafia seemingly gone and the company's headquarters in Junction destroyed, Pietr Rusakova is adjusting to being a normal teen and Jess is realizing normalcy may not be what she wanted after all. But both Jess and Cat know the truth--that normal can't be taken for granted. Their precious cure isn't permanent--and when a new danger stalks into their small town, Alexi decides he must overcome his issues with the mother who abandoned him to be raised by wolves and make a brand new deal to save his adopted family.
