Thirty year old Emily (Strong) Murphy temporarily moves from San Francisco to the Colorado Rockies to sell the property inherited from her mother. Emily is divorced after her husband has left her due to her inability to produce a child to full term. Feeling whipped and devastated, her goal is to sell the property, go back to college and eventually be able to afford to adopt a child of her own. She arrives in Valentine Valley a new, independent woman.
Meeting the sexy and virile Nate Thallberg turns her close little world upside down. Neither she nor Nate have any intentions of committing to a permanent relationship, but the more they are together, the faster they pursue an earth shattering sexual affair. The sexy cowboy spends too much time helping her restore the restaurant while trying to keep his distance.
Becoming involved in the Thallberg annual rodeo and submitting an entry to the baking competition opens her life to options she never thought of in the past. Never has she felt so loved and accepted as in Valentine Valley, but knowing that Nate desires no long time commitment, Emily is determined to move on even at leaving her heart behind. Nate must either let her go or convince her that he has changed and her future is with him.
Valentine Valley is known to be home for the true love and a place to mend the broken hearts. Emily becomes the new independent woman she desires but finds that her goals in life may not be what they started out being. Her love for Nate is embedded in her heart but her reluctance stems from knowing he wants no ties. Finding love when least expected, creates a new and vivacious woman out of Emily.
This is a love story that tends to stick to you and leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The characters are compassionate and loving and the author put me in Valentine Valley through her words. Reading this story was definitely my pleasure as it flowed easily and kept my interest to the last word. A TOWN CALLED VALENTINE is a true love story about regular people.
