Romance

I was very excited to see another book come out in the Sea Haven: Sisters of the Heart series and could not wait to get my hands on it. Although I am a huge fan of this author I was a little taken aback with this book.

SPIRIT BOUND brings us the story of Judith and Stefan. After spending time undercover in jail Stefan finds out that Judith may be the key to bringing down the criminal he has been assigned to. After Jean-Claude escapes from prison Stefan is ordered to go to Sea Haven and protect Judith. Even before he gets to the small town he knows that she is his destiny. Will the two live long enough to find out just what that destiny is or will evil win?

SPIRIT BOUND is book two in the new series about the Prakenskii brothers and the woman they love, and is a welcome spin off of the Drake Sister's series. I really enjoyed that series and the bond that all the characters had, especially the sisters. This series seems to have less of the emotional ties as the Drake Sister's series had. I was surprised to see that the brothers do not have such a bond between them.

Stefan is a good man who is more than willing to fight for what is right and those that he loves. Judith is a strong woman who must follow her heart. The two find themselves learning about trust and love as they fight for their lives. I found it hard to connect with this couple emotionally and some of the characters from the previous series that show up in this book are very watered down making it hard for me to enjoy this book as much as the author's previous stories. I understand that this book centers around Stefan but I was surprised that there was not more interaction with any of the other brothers or the Drakes as they are in the same town and all have supernatural powers. While SPIRIT BOUND may not be a favorite I still enjoy this author and cannot wait to see what the next book in this series has in store for us.
