Erin and Rory are those two kids from high school who every
one just knows will end up together. Rory is the town's
favorite boy and Erin is the princess who can't do wrong.
Rory fully intends to catch Erin and never let her
go...until he gets to New York City. The bright lights and
opportunities bedazzle him and he never returns to their
little town. After two years, Rory is tired of New York and
ready to go back and pick up Erin. Erin greets him with a
solid "No." What follows are both humorous and serious
scenes between that will have the reader immersed in this
love story gone wrong.
Erin is a character a female reader can be proud of. She is
not one to be swept off her feet, very practical and
intelligent. Rory is more optimistic and idealistic,
thinking all he needs to rely upon are his face and body.
Erin has decided that Rory is not worth waiting for, giving
him a run for his money as he tries to convince her he just
might be worth taking a chance on.
The scenes that involve Rory attempting to convince Erin he
is the man for her are a riot that will keep the reader
laughing. Erin's ability to completely enrage Rory is also
amusing. Their developing relationship is fun to watch. It
would have been nice if Erin had resisted a little bit more.
Rory's character is OK. He is a bit on the irresponsible
side and too arrogant to realize when he has hurt someone.
Erin is a good foil for his character and may even be the
key to cracking his arrogant exterior. A reader who enjoys
modern romance will enjoy BREAKAWAY.
Rory Brady was Ballycraig's golden boy, the local lad who
moved to America and became a professional hockey player.
But he broke his promise to Erin O'Brien-and never went back
for her. Now Erin has moved on, and Rory must race the clock
to prove to her that the man she fell in love with is still
there. But can happy-go-lucky Erin risk it all and give
another chance to the man who broke her heart?
