Darian is an unusual woman. Abandoned by the one who made
her, she slips further into the shadows with each passing
day. The author will introduce the reader to Darian and the
world she lives in quickly and efficiently. Darian isn't a
doctor, lawyer, or accountant - she is an assassin, a job
she takes very seriously. Until now, she has done mostly
small jobs, but when the King of Shaede targets her and asks
her to do a favor, Darian must think twice before agreeing.
The love interests in this book are very different from each
other. Tyler is completely love-sick. He adores Darian and
makes his feelings well known. The reader will have no
problem loving Tyler. The King of Shaede on the other hand
is not so easy to reconcile. He is almost uncaring towards
Darian at times and arrogant. Darian has a choice to make,
but what will she decide?
SHAEDES OF GRAY was pretty good. The tension between the
Shaede King and Darian continues through much of the book
without resolution. The reader gets a glimpse into Tyler's
character and I expect we will learn more in future books
within the series. While there is a romantic element within
the book, the story is not consumed by who will our heroine
choose. SHAEDES OF GRAY is an action packed debut for Amanda
Bonilla that will have the reader begging for more.
In the shadows of the night, Darian has lived alone for
almost a century. Made and abandoned by her former love,
Darian is the last of her kind-an immortal Shaede who can
slip into darkness as easily as breathing. With no one else
to rely on, she has taught herself how to survive, using her
unique skills to become a deadly assassin.
When Darian's next mark turns out to be Xander Peck, King of
the Shaede Nation, her whole worldview is thrown into
question. Darian begins to wonder if she's taken on more
than her conscience will allow. But a good assassin never
leaves a job unfinished...
