Juliet Falconer is dealing with the recent death of her
husband through dog walking. Hiding her feelings while
trying to deal with the loss leaves her open to the
ministrations of her mother to become a dog walker and
unofficial town pet-sitter for Longhampton. Unable to
complete her unfinished house without her husband Ben, an
opportunity presents itself, precipitated by her sister,
Louise, and her mother, Diane.
Meeting Lorcan Hennessey who is living with the very
unconventional family next door, Juliet is eventually
coerced into beginning her home repairs, as well as her life
again. Helping her sister to deal with her own secret
enables Juliet to focus on something other than her own
greif and helps her realize she still has passion and will
allow herself to fall in love again. Ben, a devoted
gardener, has left a legacy in the form of cherry tree
saplings that will eventually help her to live and love
again.
