The crullers featured in KILLLER CRULLERS are more threatening than deadly. When a man buys the last dozen over-iced crullers from donut shop owner Suzanne Hart, she expects that they are going to be eaten. Turns out Desmond Ray is throwing them at the front window of Gabby Williams' resale shop because he's convinced she has stolen a diamond brooch and $10,000 dollars his Aunt Jean had hidden in a coat she took to Gabby's shop. He wants Gabby to admit to the theft and return the missing items. Gabby denies any wrong doing. Desmond threatens both Gabby and Suzanne before storming off. When Desmond turns up dead, suspicion turns to Gabby. It's up to Suzanne to discover the truth before the town turns against Gabby. It doesn't help that Suzanne is distracted by events in her dating life and those of her mom and best friend.
KILLER CRULLERS is an entertaining addition to this cozy mystery series. Ms. Beck provides plenty of potential killers to keep you guessing. We get an update on Suzanne's growing relationship with Jake and check-in with character's we've come to enjoy.
WELCOME BACK TO DONUT HEARTSβwhere the coffee is hot, the
donuts are fresh, and the crullers are to die forβ¦
As owner of April Springsβs one and only donut shop, Suzanne
Hart is privy to the deliciously personal, downright
eccentric tastes of her customers. One man is crazy for
crullersβheavy on the icing. But when he doesnβt pick up his
order, a tall dark stranger buys the whole box. Which he
tosses, one drippy cruller at a time, at her friend Gabbyβs
storefront next doorβ¦
The man claims that stolen family valuables ended up in
Gabbyβs thrift shop. His wild, weird behavior has Suzanne
wanting to call the cops. But when he turns up deadβoutside
of Donut Hearts, no lessβthe cops come calling for her and
Gabby. Can Suzanne prove that their role in the
cruller-vandal killing is a cruel, albeit sugar-coated,
twist of fate?
