Young Adult

How far would you go to save the girl you might just love? With a combination of iproducts and humans, author Kevin Brooks pulls off a wonderfully intense young adult/teen thriller.

Tom Harvey's life changes all at once due to a falling iPhone. The gangs where Tom lives are particularly prevalent and cruel, Tom did not stand a chance against them as a human...but he might be a force to reckon with as an iBoy. When the iPhone hits his head, pieces become embedded in his brain and his brain is irrevocably changed. Tom finds himself waking up from a coma with different abilities.

It doesn't take long for Tom to arrive at the conclusion that he must take revenge on the gang that did this to him and to his Lucy-the girl he really likes. The story takes off from there.

Tom as a character is fun to read about. He is smart, brave, and determined. He is a likable main character. The secondary characters are different. Lucy is pitiable, but she will be likable to the reader. Many of the gang members will be hated or seriously disliked by the reader, the author captures the animosity perfectly. This book is fast-paced and exciting to read, highly recommended to teen/young adult readers.
