The little town of Harmony, Texas consists of a variety
of residents. Tyler Wright, the local funeral director,
has an on again off again relationship with Major Kate
Cummings. He's ready but fears Kate is not. Then there's
the recluse Ronelle Logan who lives with her domineering
mother that never wanted her but has kept her tied to her
side always downgrading her. That is, until Ronny meets
someone just like her. As a teen Reagan Truman was taken
in and passed as a relative by the elderly Jeremiah
Truman. Giving her his name and a home, Rae is completely
devoted to caring for Jeremiah and running the apple
orchard farm.
Each of the many residents are looking for something but
not knowing how to get it. Searching for the unexpected
and impossible, they are all forced to re-evaluate what it
is they truly want. Ronny is afraid of everything until
she meets a crippled and lonely man who encourages her to
face her fears and make her own decisions. Kate finally
must face what it would mean to her to lose the one man she
has so far taken for granted. The town must now come
together to confront the disaster before them.
THE COMFORTS OF HOME is a heartfelt story of a town full
of people confronted with personal choices that they have
avoided until a threatening storm brings them to the end of
their procrastinating. Some of the characters are comical
and some are very sad. To see them all face their dilemma
with courage, warms the heart. This is a very compelling
and compassionate story riddled with secrets.
