As a long-time reader of the Otherworld Novels, I would like the D'Artigo sisters, particularly Camille, to go on vacation from their constant war. Perhaps the next book will feature a little of the promised downtime that this book does not provide! In the opening scene, the heroes are returning from their previous adventure, and they get absolutely no time to rest. Instead of getting to snuggle for about a week with her three husbands, Camille has to go deal with a vendetta started by her dragon husband, Smoky's, dad. Meanwhile, a portal absorbs her friend, Chase, and Camille has torment upon torment heaped upon her for the rest of the book; she's a great protagonist, though. Even while she is in agony, she tries to save others. The work is, as are all of Yasmine Galenorn's, magical and detailed and fantastic; for some readers, immersion into Camille's world is a catalyst for relaxation and relief that no matter what the mundane world throws at us, we aren't going through her troubles, but some readers may find that Galenorn's excellent writing style and attention to detail cause them to stress out over Camille's life as much as their own!
