I was thrilled with another Three Worlds novel. I really enjoyed the first one and thought that this second book about Ender would be wonderful. In the first book, Seduce Me in Dreams, Ender was a bit of a mystery besides his explosive nature. Here in SEDUCE ME IN FLAMES we get to see a side of Ender, whose true name is Rush, that I never saw coming. This mysterious carefree guy has suddenly come full turn and we get to see a charming, sensitive, and insecure side that he has never had. I loved it! Action packed, full of adventure, and virtually steaming romance SEDUCE ME IN FLAMES was a story like no other. You, Ms. Frank, have seduced me into the Three Worlds.
The story line is about Ambrea Vas Allay, the disinherited empress of Allay. Having survived years of betrayal, heartache, and a life that a Princess should never have had Ambrea and her Uncle are all that is left of this powerful family. Learning at an early age that nothing comes easy, Ambrea was not surprised to be locked in the wet rooms and virtually left to rot. Having a champion to lead her to safety is just the first step in taking her throne back. Ambrea was exceptionally well written. I loved her strength and determination to make more of her world than her father before her had. The struggles that came with it were no surprise, in a court there are vipers waiting around every corner and Ambrea was not immune to them. The people of Allay have learned to be distrustful and placing their future into the hands of a woman was a difficult thing, especially when the Empress is hounded by a Tarian. Retaining her champion, Ender, or Rush as he has asked her to call him, for her personal body guard was not an option. In order to survive in Allay Ambrea needed to use every resource she had available. Can she survive her enemies long enough to lose her heart?
As a member of the Interplanetary Militia, Rush has kept his true self hidden since he was a child. The unnatural things that he can do and has survived through are no laughing matter. The rescue of one Empress should have gone off without a hitch, but when Rush is forced to expose himself he knows that his fate truly lies within Ambrea's hands. Protecting her is not going to be a problem, but protecting his heart from her has become the biggest challenge of his life.
I thought that Rush's insecurities only made him a better character. No man is perfect and each has his own personal drama to overcome before taking the next step in their lives. For Rush this drama was his abilities that he had been taught to keep hidden. Opening himself up to Ambrea and learning to trust his team with his life was the step that had to be complete to complete him.
