Romance Suspense | Suspense

FBI agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight are assisting lead investigators Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock in catching a serial killer who preys on women across state lines. What they learn is that the killer is connected to another serial killer who was killed on death row. In the midst of the investigation, Lucy's father dies and minutes before his death he claims her grandfather was murdered by her grandmother. Lucy is stunned. She wants answers so she moves into her grandmother's house hoping to discover what really happened so long ago. Before long their prey is spotted but things go awry and the killer disappears but not before letting Dillon know he is destined for death soon. Dillon knows there is a target on his head but the serial killer is not his only case and he must find answers before an old man dies. In finding her answers will Lucy also become a victim from something that began long before she was born? Recurring characters, a new romance, and Ms. Coulter's most intriguing mystery to date will definitely thrill readers while turning the pages of SPLIT SECOND. The villain is nasty and the surprises the author has in store will both delight and shock fans of murder mysteries. This is one series that has yet to go stale; the plots are continually fresh with the unique voice of its author.

SUMMARY

A female serial killer is on the loose, and it’s up to FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock to track her down—and stop her before it’s too late. There’s evidence that the woman, Kirsten Bolger, has a killer bloodline, too: a connection to the notorious Ted Bundy only complicates the case. But the crack team of Savich and Sherlock are on it—and better than ever. At the same time, Special Agent Lucy Carlyle learns from her dying father that her grandfather hadn’t simply walked away from his family twenty-two years earlier: he had, in fact, been murdered by his wife, Lucy’s grandmother. Determined to uncover the truth, Lucy moves into her grandmother’s Maryland mansion, where she finds a skeleton in a steamer trunk and an old ring sewn inside the body’s trouser cuff. She’s led to her grandfather’s secret papers, and learns about her grand- mother’s obsession with the ring and a mysterious group called The Protectors. As the hunt for Bolger escalates, Savich and Sherlock find themselves in her crosshairs. It’s up to Lucy to stop this deranged woman and save Savich and Sherlock before it’s too late.
