Mallory doesn't know what to think when her boyfriend takes her to a burlesque club for her birthday; it seems more like a present for him than for her. However, as she starts getting closer to dancer Bette Noir, originally for Alec's article about burlesque, she begins to realize that perhaps she should grab some happiness for herself. Working herself to death at a prestigious law firm no longer makes her happy, particularly as her boss seems out to sabotage every move Mallory makes. That, combined with the machinations of a dancer jealous of Bette's attention to Mallory, make Mallory's previously staid life start to spiral out of control. She can't decide whether Alec loves her or wants to control her, whether Bette is her friend or a bad influence, and doesn't know what she wants out of life anymore.
A racy novel, BLUE ANGEL gives an interesting background into the backstage at a burlesque club, as well as the passionate personalities within that world. The book is fast-paced, funny, explicit, and sometimes tender.
