The third of this thrilling Irish series by Laurel McKee
left me with no doubt that this series is truly a winner.
McKee is able to spin an Irish tale like no other romance
writer I have read before. The story of Grant and Caroline
first appeared in Duchess of Sin. It was wonderful to
get
the final tale and find out more about the mysterious and
intriguing rouge Grant Dunmore. It seemed to me that these
two star-crossed lovers were forever on the run from
something. Whether the trouble came in the form of enemies,
brothel fights, ship wrecks, or themselves this unlucky
pair is kept constantly on the run. From the desolate isle
of Muirin Inish to the streets of Dublin, McKee sweeps the
reader away on a fantastical and romantic journey through
ole Ireland.
In times of war, history must be told to rally the people
for the cause. As a scholar, Lady Caroline Blacknall is
writing the story of Ireland for the people to remember
their past. However, Caro has found that she simply cannot
complete her manuscript without information that can only
be found in The Chronicle of Kildare. As a girl Caroline
had her first glimpse of the elusive book and has forever
longed to study the tales and legends lost within its
pages. Caro knows that this book can only be found held
within the hands of its owner, Grant Dunmore. Once, a long
long time ago, Grant kidnapped Caro and touched her young
heart in ways that she never imagined. Grant is the one man
that Caro was sure she would never want to see again. But
throughout the years Caro has found that she has thought of
Grant time and again. Now, when she needs him the most, she
must embark on an adventure across the seas to find him on
the desolate isle of Muirin Inish.
Secluded on his island for the past few years, Grant's life
has continued to be surrounded by mystery and intrigue.
Attempting to right the wrongs of his past seems to create
one hazard after another. There is one wrong that Grant has
never managed to right...the time he held the Lady Caroline
Blacknall prisoner and the one time she touched his heart.
Finding himself rescuing a drowning woman from the sea
Grant never imagined that she would be the one woman that
has haunted him every night and day since he let her get
away. Now that his Caro is back in his arms, just what is he
going to do with her and more importantly how can he ever
let her go again?
Being rescued by Grant was not on Caroline's to do list for
this adventure. When things appear to go from bad to worse
she finds herself being swept across the country with
Grant. Keeping him in her arms seems to be the most
impossible task of all, never mind the fact that they are
running for their very lives. Now that she has found the
key to her heart how can Caro ever go back to her simple
life again? Can she truly let Grant walk out of her life
again?
It's a mad, ill-advised journey that leads the usually
sensible Lady Caroline Blacknall to the legendary isle of
Muirin Inish, off the windswept coast of Ireland. Even so,
she doesn't expect to find herself shipwrecked and then
rescued by a man she believed she would never see again. A
man who, long ago, held her life in his hands . . . and with
it, her heart.
Reformed rake Sir Grant Dunmore knew he could
never forget the beautiful woman he once endangered nor will
he ever forgive himself. But history seems doomed to repeat
itself, for as long as Caroline stays on the island, she is
trapped in a secret plot that could forever free Ireland-or
turn deadly for all. And yet, now that she is in his arms
again, how can he dream of ever letting her go?
