Romance Historical

Lady Caroline Blacknall is in search of the final pieces of documentation for her life-long work, writing a book of collected Celtic lore. It is to be her legacy, her gift to her struggling people. For access to a rare book, The Chronicle of Kildaire, she is willing to beard the enemy of her sister in his remote island den.

Sir Grant Dunmore has escaped his past and the harm his actions brought to Caroline by immuring himself on Muirin Inish off the coast of Ireland, but he will never forgive himself for endangering her life. When she appears shipwrecked on his coast he knows the deep and subtle game he is playing with the French can bring nothing but more danger to her innocent life. He also knows she is stubborn and intelligent enough the he can not shield her, though not for lack of trying.

Caroline's direct and forthright manner is a refreshing change from many historical romance heroines. She knows she enjoys Grant and the feelings he raises within her, so different from the quiet love she shared with her late husband and is willing to risk it all for the sake of the pleasures they share, even for a brief time. Grant is the one who fears to risk love, and who knows the true danger they face in the situation he has created for his own purposes.

Set in the tumultuous beginning of the nineteenth century's Irish insurrection the background has been well-researched but does not in any way overshadow the love story. Laurel McKee has done a fine job with her Daughters of Erin Trilogy. LADY OF SEDUCTION is book three. I look forward to McKee's next adventure with great anticipation.

SUMMARY

It's a mad, ill-advised journey that leads the usually sensible Lady Caroline Blacknall to the legendary isle of Muirin Inish, off the windswept coast of Ireland. Even so, she doesn't expect to find herself shipwrecked and then rescued by a man she believed she would never see again. A man who, long ago, held her life in his hands . . . and with it, her heart.

Reformed rake Sir Grant Dunmore knew he could never forget the beautiful woman he once endangered nor will he ever forgive himself. But history seems doomed to repeat itself, for as long as Caroline stays on the island, she is trapped in a secret plot that could forever free Ireland-or turn deadly for all. And yet, now that she is in his arms again, how can he dream of ever letting her go?
