The final installment revolving around the three Creed
cowboys is about Brody Creed who returned home to Lonesome
Bend, Colorado after an extended absence and separation from
his family and twin brother Connor. Both Connor and Brody
were raised by their aunt and uncle having lost their
parents when they were just infants. The twins were
twin-close up until they let a woman get between them. But that
didn't really explain the why of Brody's disappearance for
so many years and few family members knew the entire story.
He had actually returned home once before, about ten years
earlier, hoping to put his wanderlust to rest and make amends
with his brother. He even started up a relationship with a
lovely newcomer to the area, Carolyn, which promised to be
the stuff futures are made of. But the past caught up with
Brody -- a young lady gave him a literal wake-up call
informing him of her pregnancy and he felt obligated to do
right by her and their unborn child. So he left Carolyn a
note saying he was sorry and goodbye, and he hit the road
once again.
Carolyn was crushed even though she considered herself less
than worthy of a fairy tale ending. Nonetheless, she made
the decision to stay put in a place that had accepted her;
where she was beginning to belong, finally a home. Brody
and Carolyn came from two distinctly different places.
Brody had enjoyed the love and security one comes to expect
from a large loving family -- part of the Creed's legacy.
The fact that he would turn his back on this rich heritage
was impossible for Carolyn to fathom. When he returned this
last time, Carolyn had to face facts that to protect her
heart she needed to erect a wall around her emotions where
Brody was concerned. She was rather confident she could
pull this off considering her history of being left behind,
first by her mother then by a long line of foster
homes. What she neglected to consider was the Creed
tenacity and appeal. Brody and Carolyn may have started in
opposing corners but the battle of hearts was just
starting. The current between the two practically sizzled.
May not have been a match made in heaven but it could still
be a heck of a love match.
Having met Carolyn in the prior Creed stories, we were
already captivated with this unassuming young woman who
went out of her way to avoid any and all contacted with
Brody Creed -- to an almost comical degree -- but had built a
solid relationship with many Creed family members. She was
a bit of mystery to all, and Miller did an excellent job
whetting our appetite for more of Carolyn's story. In true
Miller fashion she did not disappoint.
Rough-and-tumble rodeo cowboy Brody Creed likes life on the move. Until a chance encounter with his long-estranged twin brother brings him “home,” for the first time in years. Suddenly Brody is in Creed territory—a rootless bad boy among family with deep ties to the land and each other. He’s half-ready to bolt when he meets a copper-haired beauty more restless than he is. Carolyn Simmons is living a temporary life in Lonesome Bend, waiting to light out for the glamour of a metropolis. Then she falls for gorgeous Brody Creed, the opposite of everything she wants. But taming his wild heart might just become everything they both need…
