The Baron of Lonefell Keep disowns his newborn daughter when his wife dies during childbirth. Taken under the wing of the laundress until barely a toddler, Mehcredi is again left alone when the laundress commits suicide. Unloved and abused by everyone, she believes herself useless and stupid; shunned always by other children and adults. A scavenger, she barely exists on meager handouts from cook. Upon cook's death, Mehcredi, now nearly six feet tall, steals from the Baron and stoles away to market in Caracole.
Walker, of the House of Swords and gifted with a shaman's magic, is a swordmaster intent on killing the diabloman, Nyzare, responsible for slaughtering his entire family. Mehcredi, now an assassin who nearly kills Walker's friend, becomes bound to Walker and Dai. Thus begins their trek together to find Nyzare. Uniting with others who have magic to form the pentacle (air, fire, water and earth) they endeavor to destroy the Nyzare with his djinn and creatures who are sucking the life out of everyone they cross.
Discovering pure ecstasy, Mehcredi and Walker form an iron clad bond. In battle, Mehcredi's life is fading in excruciating pain due to the creature's djinn stone ready to burst in her body. Walker strives to save her by using his magic, but that may force the release of Mehcredi from his hold forever.
THE LONE WARRIOR is fast paced and full of imagination and eroticism. Explicit sexual descriptions will keep your heart thumping and your face red. Mehcredi is an exceptional character; though completely void of human relationships, she has the heart of an innocent. She has no fear and travels a path through the story rebuilding her character and life. I enjoyed very much the tactful way Denise Rossetti has brought the two opposites together to grow and find happiness.
