Tattoo artist Riley Poe didn't expect her life to be quite this exciting. Riley's learned to control most of her rapidly-increasing vampiric tendencies after being attacked by rogue vampires, now she has to deal with a double whammy: not only does Victorian, one of her attackers, whisper sweet nothings in her mind, she can also feel the moment another vampire commits murder. That her mind keeps being violated drives her vampire lover, Eli, mad with jealousy, and they have to deal with how to connect amidst the constantly escalating strangeness. Of course, Riley and her companions have to get involved in a vampire-vs-humans fight club to find out more information.
EVERDARK is a cool book. The relationships among the friends, family members, and lovers are well-drawn. In addition, the strong thread of the importance of companionship weaves throughout the narrative; characters may want to be strong alone, but they are even stronger when they are supported by those they love.
