Jayleia Durante's father Zaine has been accused of treason, it's believed he's been providing the Targreth Federated Council's enemy with information. Jayleia and Damen make a great team. Their respect for one another takes time to build, but when they realize they can only trust one another, their relationship shifts in a way readers will whole heartily approve of. Both use their wits to keep them one step ahead of the danger that surrounds them. Damen almost wears his heart on his sleeve for Jayleia who is unaware of his feelings for her. The love they come to share is very subtle and not explosive, unlike the action on the pages. There are no big declarations of love between the two, but readers should be pleased by how things turn out.
