TWILIGHT PROPHECY presented a surprisingly unique twist to
vampire lore. Maggie Shayne's blend of ancient civilization
history and present day vampires was magnificent! I
absolutely loved the new legends that Shayne presented in
this book. The history of vampires has almost always
followed a certain path. Mixing Sumerian legends and
twisting them for her own purposes was simply brilliant.
TWILIGHT PROPHECY is a definite addition to my collection
and those of vampire lovers everywhere.
The story begins with James Poe a vampire in denial that he
is anything but a vampire. James has forsaken the ways of
his people and used his "gift" for his own purposes.
Playing god, James has healed the sick and saved children
from death across the globe. When an ex-DPI agent blows the
world with his new book announcing that vampires are a
hidden secret all hell breaks loose. In the midst of all
the chaos one woman stands alone. One woman that James is
somehow drawn to protect, to defend, and one woman that he
wants to see him for the person that he is. Lucy Lanfair
has indeed turned James' world upside down. Trying to find
a way to decipher an ancient stone tablet that holds the
key to saving his people is the least of James' problems.
Now he must prove to himself and to Lucy that all his good
intentions have not gone wrong. Is his gift truly a
blessing or the devil in disguise?
As a linguist and archeologist, Lucy Lanfair has made the
discovery of a lifetime. She has uncovered a prophecy from
the time of Kings and Gods; a prophecy that is unlike any
other in existence. Lucy has always played it safe from her
home, her job, and her basement filled with books, a life
of adventure was not something Lucy ever dreamed about. But
it is exactly what her find has given her. The prophecy
that she uncovered has led directly to James Poe and Lucy
is the only one who can decipher the writing on the texts
and uncover the secret to saving the vampire race. Running
for their lives from vigilante humans who have decided to
exterminate them, James and Lucy are thrown together to
fight, to build, and maybe to destroy. What happens when it
is all over? More importantly, what happens to Lucy's life
without James in it?
Save the Vampire, Save the World.
According to ancient prophecy, there's only one chance to
avert the complete annihilation of the Undead. Twins James
William and Brigit Poe, part human, part vampire, believe
that they are that chance. In truth, the key lies with the
reclusive and mortal scholar Lucy Lanfair.
As Armageddon approaches, antivampire sentiment fuels a war
neither side can win, driving James to abandon his moral
code and draw Lucy into a deadly battle she wants no part
of. But Lucy soon realizes that she holds this powerful
immortal's soul in her hands and that it's her destiny not
only to stop a war but to save him from his inner darkness.
If she fails, his race will die and so will her heart. Is
the power of love strong enough to save the world?
