Rancher Rylie Thorn is determined to find out why local law enforcement hasn't lifted a finger to stop all the thefts in the area. Rylie wants to know how all of the trucks on her ranch can disappear and no one has a lead. Angry and ready to fight, she takes up her issue at the Sheriff's office only to come across one tall-drink-of-water, Sheriff Clay Wayland. Normally Rylie has something to say, but Sheriff Wayland has robbed her of her voice (at least for a moment) then she lets him have it, promising to do the investigating herself. Rylie quickly realizes the danger she might be in as she confronts the town mob boss and tries to back down, but unfortunately it is too late.

Sheriff Clay Wayland is thoroughly entertained by the wildcat Rylie Thorn and her ability to give a grown man a tongue lashing. Clay can't help thinking she is an adorable spitfire just asking for trouble, especially after claiming she will conduct the investigation herself and mentioning the local crime boss in the same breath. He and his men are doing what they can to find the thieves, unfortunately having absolutely no evidence doesn't help matters. Clay's attraction to Rylie spirals into a volcano of lust leading him in a direction that may break the fragile trust he gains with her. Keeping Rylie safe becomes a priority, keeping her forever is a given.

CLAY started out as a short story but has turned into a hot, steamy, and action-packed book in the Armed and Dangerous series. Definitely worth the wait.
