Cassel Sharpe lives in a world of curses and magic. He
realizes he is not an ordinary high school kid when his
memory is manipulated by his brothers. Turns out Cassel is
the greatest curse worker in his new reality.
Cassel is in love with Lila and cursed her into a white cat
(the title of the first of this series by Holly Black).
Lila is no longer a cat but is cursed to love Cassel
unconditionally, meaning Cassel cannot trust his phony
memories or his girlfriend!
The Feds recruit our hero when his older brother is murdered
by the Mob. But the Mob wants to capture and use Cassel
for their own nefarious purposes.
Holly Black's RED GLOVE is a well woven fantasy and suspense
novel that will appeal to 14-year-olds and older. I enjoyed
the read and I am of the "older" persuasion! RED GLOVE is a
dark and gritty fantasy with plenty of compelling action, and
twists that will be sure to entertain!
Curses and Cons. Magic and The Mob. In Cassel Sharpe's world, they go together. Cassel always thought he was an ordinary guy, until he realized his memories were being manipulated by his brothers. When Cassel's oldest brother is murdered, the Feds recruit Cassel to help find his brother's killer. But the mob wants Cassel too - they know how valuable he could be to them. Cassel is going to have to stay one step ahead of both sides just to survive. Where can he turn when he can't trust anyone - least of all, himself?
