Cheeky Jilly Jones is a runaway wife who has opened a bookshop called Hodgepodge on Dreare Street in London. Jillian, born the daughter of Lord Harris, is hiding from her abusive husband Hector Broadmoor. One of the "impossible bachelors", Captain Stephen Arrow, has now given up his ship and inherited a house on Dreare Street where he spends his time partying. His intent is to sell the house until his life is consumed with the spicy Jilly living across the street. The residents of the disreputable and unlucky Dreare Street band together to raise the tax money imposed upon their land and revive their reputation. Jilly and Stephen are no longer at odds with each other and find love and comfort within each other. Their biggest fears are founded when Hector unexpectedly appears at Hodgepodge.

This is another amusing and funny story of the transformation of another Impossible Bachelor when the perfect woman comes along. I wanted to keep reading until I had finished that last page. Kieran Kramer is an exceptionally clever author who has written another funny and amusing story. I will continue to look for her future books with enthusiasm.
